United StatesThis is a rally in support of the Dream Act. The Dream Act, proposed by senators Richard Durbin and Orrin Hatch, is a proposal that would allow the children of illegal immigrants, who inherited their undocumented status from their parents, certain rights. These children are essentially American, as they have grown up in this country most of their life and America is all that they know. The Dream Act would allow them to pay in-state tuition to attend college, as opposed to paying the tuition of a foreign student. It would also allow them to join the military, and provided they exhibit good conduct, it would also make it easier for them to attain residency status. Once again, I stress that these students are as American as you or I. This country is all that they know. This act makes too much sense from a moral, ethical, economic, and social standpoint.
