413-577-2629We represent 365 almost all undergraduate Resident Assistants at UMass/Amherst. We're the first legally recognized primarily undergraduate student labor union in the country. We were recognized by the Massachusetts Labor Relations Commission in January 2002, and a representation election that we won was held in March 2002. However, the University has refused to bargain with us so we've had many protests and civil disobedience actions (including a sit-in in the main administration building that led to 35 arrests) to force the University to bargain. So far, they have not followed the law and commenced bargaining with us. But we're going to make them this coming fall.This is a campus group.
