202-204-0536Raising Expectations (R.E.) is a Washington DC based non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting and inspiring youth through development of their creative talents. Through art in its many forms, we hope to fulfill a greater vision of community unity, diversity, and tolerance.
The mission of Raising Expectations is to instill cultural integrity, self-empowerment, and discipline among youth (ages 13-22) through instruction in dance, poetry, art, music and other creative disciplines. We work on the principle of raising the expectation levels of and for youth, parents and teachers in our communities towards the ends of engendering greater inclusion and opportunities for creative expression. Through the development of fun and culturally-enriching activities as well as opportunities for positive mentor relationships between youth, parents, and teachers in the community, R.E. aims to bridge the communication gaps and facilitate solutions-oriented dialogue and interaction.
