On June 3, 4 & 5, 2005 in New York City, dynamic Filipina leaders of a
wide range of backgrounds and ages come together for the 9th Filipino
American Women's Network Conference or FAWN2005: Coming into Our Own:
Spirit, Leadership and Success
FAWN2005 aims to create an experience of dialogue and connection in
order to increase awareness of issues and challenges and to enhance
skills and resources. FAWN2005 also intends to create an atmosphere of
energetic sharing that inspires, motivates, and fosters future
leadership among all conference participants. The highest goals of the
conference are to empower Filipino women and men to fulfill their
potential and make a difference and to also deepen the
Filipino-American community's confidence, interaction and success in
the United States.
FAWN conferences have been hosted by various FAWN chapters and
Filipino women's groups around the U.S. since 1980. Each has its own
slant and approach to bringing about dialogue. The organizers of
FAWN2005 have a fresh, new take on their conference as they wish to
explore the connection of success and leadership with personal inner
resources and also with the historical Philippine babaylan tradition.
This is the first time that a FAWN conference is to be held in New
York City.
The programs for FAWN2005 include panel speakers, workshops, caucuses,
a mentoring program, a night of film-showings, an exhibitors/vendors
hall, a Saturday night dinner with entertainment, and an art exhibit
entitled Spirit of the Babaylan. Registration, program, sponsorship,
venue and accommodation details available online at www.fawn2005.com.
