Mountain Justice Summer

Starting Date: 05-22-2005
Ending Date: 08-27-2005
Address

Appalachia, West Virginia
United States
Description
In the tradition of Mississippi Freedom Summer
And Redwood Summer
Greedy, giant coal corporations have decided that Appalachia is the nations sacrificial zone for cheap electricity. Mountain top removal is an intensely destructive form of surface mining for coal. It is the final solution for the forests, mountains, waters and culture of Appalachia. We are calling on all residents of Appalachia, traveling activists, unionists, and concerned human rights and environmental activists to join us in defending the worlds most productive and biodiverse temperate forest ecosystems. Come to Appalachia in the Summer of 2005 and stop mountain top removal dead in its tracks.
