SESAME (Students Educating Students About the Middle East) is proud to bring the Evergreen campus its Second Middle East Film Festival. Our focus this year is on exploring borders, culture, and struggle. With over 12 films, guest speakers, and discussions, we hope to present a critical and thought-provoking spectrum of the Middle East to campus through film.
Featuring a presentation of About Baghdad from filmmaker and activist Adam Shapiro, and a number of discussions, including of gender and liberation-resistance movements with Evergreen faculty and a discussion of solidarity work in Palestine with Olympians who have traveled and worked in the region as well.
In addition, Mr. Shapiro, who has recently returned from the Darfur region of Sudan, will give a public talk on the situation there.
We are excited to bring the SESAME Middle East Film Festival to The Evergreen State College, January 25 February 3, 2005. Films and times are listed below.
Check the SESAME Website for more information and film descriptions.
