United StatesWhat are the real threats to homeland security? How can they be averted, and at what cost in terms of the open society we value? On Thursday, November 4, a panel will come together to grapple with these questions in a free moderated public discussion at 101 Science Center at Swarthmore College, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Hear from Brian Lynch, the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Philadelphia field office of the FBI in charge of counterterrorism; Jan Ting, a conservative legal scholar; Marwan Kreidie, a community activist with the Philadelphia Arab-American community; and Kim Lane Scheppele, law and sociology professor at U Penn studying the effects of terrorism on democracies. The event is the second in a yearlong series of forums on �Decisions for America: Critical Choices/ Differing Voices� sponsored by Pendle Hill and Swarthmore College designed to encourage civil civic discourse about matters of vital interest.
