United StatesMale Circumcision/Male Genital Mutilation (MC/MGM) is a culturally determined, body mutilation ritual that has been practiced on an estimated 650 million men and boys worldwide and 77 million in the United States. Each year 1.2 million boys in the United States undergo MC/MGM. Fifty-eight percent of all newborn boys are at risk of undergoing MC/MGM. Legislators, policy makers, psychologists, therapists, doctors, nurses parents and spouses should be aware of the consequences of MC/MGM.
