Starting Date: 05-16-2014 Ending Date: 05-17-2014 Baltimore, Maryland 21201 United StatesAll over the country people are fed up with living crisis to crisis. They are learning how to make a new economy – one that is designed to build wealth for our communities and families.
How are they doing it? Join us at the Baltimore Economic Democracy Conference, Building Our Economy Together on May 16th & 17th 2014 and find out how the movement for economic democracy gives people and communities the power to take control over the forces that shape their lives.
The topics that will be covered include:
Remaking money so it serves us, rather than the Wall Street banks and developing participatory budgeting processes where the people decide how to spend public dollars in their community.
Creating businesses where the workers are owners and decision-makers; and where profits are shared equitably.
Creating affordable housing ownership and rentals with community land trusts so property is protected from real estate bubbles.
Building a green economy that reduces pollution and provides sustainable energy for healthy neighborhoods.
Creating food security in our communities through urban gardening, cooperative food networks and sharing food so that none is wasted.
The conference will have two parts. On Friday night, May 16th there will be a panel at the Town Hall space at The Real News Network, 235 Holliday St., Baltimore, MD 21202 (two blocks from City Hall).
