CanadaMARXISM 2013 is a weekend-long political conference of 30 workshops, panel discussions and cultural events. Join the discussion about how to build a better world. Topics include climate justice, indigenous sovereignty and resistance, combatting oppression and imperialism, and a rebel’s guide to economics and activism.
New speakers confirmed!
Gerry Leblanc – an environmental activist with the United Steelworkers will be speaking on the panel “What would it take to shut down the Tar Sands?”
Monique Moisan - a leading member of Québec solidaire and a founder of À bâbord! magazine will be speaking at Marxism 2013.
Andria Babbington - vice-president of the Toronto and York Region Labour Council will be speaking on the opening panel at Marxism 2013.
Benoit Renaud – a member of the Québec solidaire coordinating committee from 2018 to 2012. Responsible for mobilization of QS members and relations to social movements during the “Printemps érable”. QS candidate in the Outaouais riding of Chapleau (2008, 2012) and in Rivière-du-Loup (2009). Currently leading member of the newly founded Réseau écosocialiste will be speaking at Marxism 2013.
Dimitra Kyrillou, a socialist from Cyprus will be at Marxism 2013 to speak on the fight against fascism and on the panel “women, resistance and revolution”. She is a journalist for the paper Workers’ Solidarity and a member of SEK: www.sekonline.gr
Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois - former spokesperson for Coalition large de l’Association pour une Solidarité Syndicale Étudiante (CLASSE) will be speaking on the Friday night panel Solidarity against austerity: lessons from the front lines
Ron Plain of the Aamjiwnaang First Nation will be speaking at Marxism 2013.
Julie Devaney will be performing excerpts from her new book My Leaky Body.
Carolyn Egan – president of Steelworkers local 8300, reproductive rights activist and leading member of the International Socialists will be speaking on Solidarity against austerity: lessons from the front lines
