The Deaf CSUNians at Cal State Northridge and the National Center on Deafness proudly
announce the 1st California State Deaf Students Leadership Conference!
Theme? Leadership: What It Is and What It Is Not!
When? Thursday October 2, 2008, starting at 5 PM and ending Saturday
October 4 at 5:30 PM.

Who? Deaf College Students from California and other states
Leadership Learning Outcomes?
Participants will understand and apply individual and team leadership skills.
Conference Topics?
Keynote speakers on 1) Leadership: What it is and What it is Not!
2) Leadership and Planning for Success (Achieving Personal, Community and Organizational Goals).
Workshop sessions topics: (Participants will attend 4 out of 6 options.)
• Diversity Panel of Leaders
• Deaf Hood and Identity
• Rights, Responsibilities, Roles and Politics
• Parliamentary Process
• Communications, Public Relations and Media
• Team Building (Outdoor activity)
Why? Deaf College Students need opportunities to examine and acquire leadership skills, interact with other
emerging and experienced leaders, and determine their own personal, academic, career and community goals.
Registration Fee? $50.00 per student. This covers all conference materials, one light snack during
the Thursday Ice Breaker event, Lunch and Dinner on Friday, and snacks and Lunch on Saturday. Participants are
responsible for their own travel and overnight accommodations.
