Why Philadelphia, and why now? This summer, all 50 governors will be in Philadelphia for the Centennial Meeting of the National Governors Association. We want to take advantage of this unprecedented opportunity to bring our message of worker justice directly to our governors, in the same place at the same time.

We’ll kick off the weekend with a Worker Rights Board Hearing hosted by Philadelphia Jobs with Justice, where sweatshop workers and uniformed public employees will deliver their message that there can be no justice while our governors spend our tax dollars on uniforms and other products made in sweatshops. From there we will march to the governors’ meeting to urge our elected officials to join the State and Local Government Sweatfree Consortium. Come represent your state!

The rest of the weekend will feature in-depth strategy sessions and trainings - suitable for new and seasoned sweatfree campaign activists – and designed to take your local campaign to the next level. We hope to have at least two or three representatives from each local sweatfree campaign at the Summit.
