WE NEED HELP!
HOW TO GET INVOLVED WITH PLANNING:
This convergence is what we make it. Organizing the convergence itself is a great way to make connections with other activists beforehand and it's never too late to get involved. The entire process is open to anyone that wants to help.
That being said, there will be an Organizing 101 workshop which will delve into effecting organizing tactics, building campaign strategies, and how to determine a goal and accomplish it.
There will also be one on G.I. Resistance & Counter-Recruitment. These two tactics have proven to not only be incredibly successful for local campaigns, but they also have the enormous potential of being key in ending the Iraq & Afghanistan occupations, bringing an end to the suffering and death of thousands of Iraqis and Americans.
Workshops on inter-generational alliances for more effective, equitable organizing are also in the works. Organizers across the country have become increasingly aware of the divisions between student activists and those of older generations. Those organizers and activists who have bridged this unnecessary gap have proven to be more effective in their campaigns while also developing a fuller sense of community and social responsibility.
A few other workshops already planned involve feminist perspectives on oppression and resistance, citizen lobbying, alternative education, and student privacy protection.
Apart from workshops, we will be having speakers speakers, musicians, and shindigs!
Since organizers for this convergence are students from all over the country, we're using two ways to communicate with each other:
1. JOIN THE GOOGLE GROUP/E-MAIL LIST:
