Description
Vassar's Asian Students' Alliance is concerned about the Asian American community. Asians and Asian Americans are in the special predicament of being viewed as minorities, while also being categorized as having "made it." Dubbed "the other white meat," we as Asian Americans are still discriminated against. Yet, we are often denied the benefit of programs aimed at people of color. Where do we fit in, if anywhere?
This April, we are proud to host our 2003 conference themed the ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN AWARENESS CONFERENCE (APAAC): AFFIRMING IDENTITY, and we hope that you will be inspired to come out. The aims of this conference are two-fold. We wish to educate our community about important issues that pertain to us currently. We also wish build true relations amongst Asian and Asian-American college student organizations. There are many of us who have no contact with each other-- coalition building is valuable for all involved and can only help us and the generations that follow us.
