Description
KERPOW: Youth* Activist Conference
April 12th and 13th, 2003
Tivoli, Auraria Campus
Speak up! Speak out! Organize!
A fabulous opportunity for youth activists and want-to-be activists!
KERPOW will include two days (from 8:30am to 5:00pm) of activist skills trainings such as organizing, fundraising, networking, dealing with the press, avoiding burnout/balancing schedules etc. There will also be specialized sessions that cover the legal rights of protestors, puppet/banner-making, addressing -isms in activist communities (ie. racism, sexism, ageism, classism, heterosexism), legal observer training, health and safety, as well as many more trainings for useful activist skills.
There is _NO COST_ to attend the conference. To register, please send your name, address, phone number, and school/organization affiliation (if applicable) to youthactivistproject@yahoo.com
with "REGISTER" in the subject line. Also include any accomodations that you would need- such as babysitting, interpreting, etc. People will still be admitted to the conference on the days of the event, but we would like to get a general count of people that will be attending to make arrangements for food, supplies, etc.
For any other information, please call 303-898-7121, email youthactivistproject@yahoo.com
, or visit the Youth Activist Project website at http://www.geocities.com/youthactivistproject.
*The conference will be organized for high school and college-aged people, but anyone under the age of thirty is welcome to attend.
