DELAWARE, Ohio Winter Soldier one of the most powerful documentaries about war ever made will be shown on April 27 at 6:30 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) in Ohio Wesleyan University's Hamilton-Williams Campus Center Benes Rooms. The event is free and open to the public, but donations of $3-8 are suggested. Proceeds will benefit homeless veterans and victims of Agent Orange.

A panel discussion (comparing Vietnam to Iraq) with Veterans who participated in the Winter Soldier Investigations will follow the film. Panelists include Marine Sergeant Scott Camil, whom The Washington Post called, "one of the film's most eloquent witnesses"; Marine Sergeant Joe Bangert who was part of the Winterfilm Collective of filmmakers which created and archived the original documentary; Randy 'Doc' Barnes, former military medic, Winter Soldier investigator, and current Board Member of Vietnam Veterans of America; and Gary Staiger former Air Force medic from Dayton who testified on the Medical Panel.

Winter Soldier was released 34 years ago but has rarely been seen in the United States. This award-winning and recently re-released documentary, is based on the testimony of Vietnam War Veterans. The film chronicles the Winter Soldier Investigation, an inquiry into war crimes in Vietnam which took place during February 1971 in a Detroit motel and was organized by Vietnam Veterans Against the War. More than 125 veterans participated, including the younger John Kerry.

The event's sponsors include the Ohio Wesleyan Woltemade Center for Economics, Business, and Entrepreneurship, the Chaplain's Office, the philosophy department, the history department, the politics & government department, the religion department, the Women's and Gender Studies Department, the Anderson Fund, Amnesty International, Voices for Agent Orange, and Veterans for Peace.
