Why Pharmacies Should Dispense Medication, Not Moral Judgement
Alarmingly, an increasing number of pharmacists and physicians are refusing to dispense birth control or write prescriptions for contraception. These health care professionals cite their religious, moral, ideological, and personal objections to the use of contraceptives.
Prescription refusal is a disturbing trend that can jeopardize woman's reproductive health. Denying women their rights to timely access to health care is an act of discrimination that could lead to an increased number of unintended pregnancies.
Our guest is Jordan Fitzgerald, a long-time activist and advocate, who is Senior Manager for Training at Planned Parenthood Federation of American. Jordan will be discussing working with activists and national pharmacy chains to ensure that all legal prescriptions are filled on site, without discrimination or delay.
The forum will run from twelve noon until 1:30pm. The format for these events is informal and we encourage you to bring your "brown bag lunch" to the discussion.
