This weekend Greenpeace will be offering free tours of the Arctic Sunrise ship. Meet her crew, members of the Greenpeace Clean Energy Now Campaign, and explorer Eric Larsen, who recently attempted the first summer crossing of the Arctic Ocean.
Many of Greenpeace's most memorable and effective protests have taken place on the high seas, onboard one of our ships. In the past nine years, the Arctic Sunrise has thwarted Japanese whalers, challenged the U.S. nuclear program and faced off with oil companies attempting to dump oil into the sea and open up new drilling stations in the Arctic. She recently returned from Greenland, where the crew and scientists documented dramatic visuals of the effects of global warming on this region.
Tour highlights include:
* A behind-the-scenes look at life on a Greenpeace ship
* A unique interactive exhibit showing what New York will look like in
years to come as a result of global warming pollution
* The latest information about Greenpeaces work to promote clean energy
initiatives including the wind farm proposed for Long Island and
Nantucket Sound
* A chance to meet explorer Eric Larsen in person and hear about his
recent attempt to cross the Arctic Ocean to highlight the dangers of
global warming
We encourage you to register in advance for a tour, as space fills up.
See you there!
