Action for Innovation in Design for the Environment in Electronics
80% of electronic waste, mostly TVs and PCs, is exported from the US to China, India, and other developing nations in Asia where it is being improperly handled and releasing leadm, cadmium, and other toxins into local and global environments.
The campaign promotes the use of environmental preferable purchasing guidelines for electronics by Universities. These guidelines promote the domestic and responsible recycling of electronic products as well as promote computers that use less toxins in their materials and production processes. Along with the guidelines, we do training for University employees in charge of electronics purchasing or disposal, outreach, and student education.
