P.O. Box 50678 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19132 United StatesEmpty the Shelters is the student arm of the Kensington Welfare Rights Union, a multi-racial organization of poor and homeless families that is building a movement to end poverty. The spirit of the organization came from the idea that we've done enough direct service- let's empty the shelters and fill the homes! We combine hands on work in local service efforts with political empowerment, public education, direct action, policy research, personal reflection and, intense training in organizing.
While the poor themselves must lead this movement, it will also take involvement from all parts of society to end poverty. As students, we have an integral role to play in the emerging poor people’s movement. This is a campus group. Geographical Scope: National Added on 04-01-2004 Updated on 04-01-2004 |
