Notre Dame Living Wage - Online Petition

I created a website for the Campus Labor Action Project which is working to get a Living Wage for Notre Dame staff.

It's a tricky balance, but I think we'd prefer to have people sign our petition only if they have a connection to Notre Dame (alumni, staff, faculty, spouse, parent, etc).

We have a committee of currently around 7 alumni (mostly who graduated in the past 4 years, but we're doing outreach to other decades). Our strategy is to build a large base of alumni supporters (hopefully 500-1500 people). Getting people to sign the online petition is the first step.

When people sign, we get their email address (and possibly phone number), and can keep them informed about the state of the campaign and encourage them to tell their friends and to engage in additional actions.

As our campaign builds, we'll be mobilizing people to call, write, and email President Fr. Jenkins (or other targets). We might also mobilize letters to newspapers, buy half or full-page advertizements in the campus paper, and encourage people to donate money to the campaign instead of the university.

I'm developing software to do this. It's free if anyone wants it.

I might come up with a "phone-tree" or "organizer" system, so you could have your alumni committee member take responsibility for talking to 1-20 people on your list of supporters. Then people could be calling their friends, and you'd also avoid having two people doing outreach to the same person. This could be simply done by just having someone write their name in, next to a contact, with a simple password protected "administrator/organizer" interface to the petition.

I also have a simple "Action Alert" system.

I was hoping on using ActionStudio, but the open source code isn't available (the CVS link is messed up).
