In 1973 the student movement caused the Philosophy department to be "democratised" and then split. The Government department was also rocked by activism. It discusses "departmental revolutions" (an interesting concept that I have not heard of before!) -- implementing democracy/change at the department level. This could be a great step in moving towards democratic universities.
