The African People's Education and Defense Fund (APEDF) is a 501 c(3) non-profit. The mission of the APEDF is:

"Positively impacting the transformation for African people throughout the world; defending the human and civil rights of the African community; developing programs addressing the grave disparities in education, health, and economic development."

In West Philadelphia, the APEDF operates the Uhuru (Freedom) House community center, which hosts APEDF sponsored programs and other community activities.

In Center City, the APEDF owns and operates Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles. You can shop, donate, or volunteer at Uhuru Furniture as a way of supporting social justice and economic development for the African community.
